The Grades 5-8 Fraction
Bars Teacher's Guide contains 5-6 steps (lessons) for each of the following eight major
topics: Basic Concepts; Equality; Inequality; Addition; Subtraction;
Multiplication; Division; and Fractions-Decimals-Percents. Each step
addresses a specific topic and consists of a two-page lesson on facing
pages. Each lesson opens with the purpose and the materials required
for the activities.
The main component of each lesson is TEACHER MODELING/STUDENT COMMUNICATION (instruction and student activities), and is followed by INDEPENDENT PRACTICE (activity sheets and interactive computer games). The last step for each of the eight major fraction topics has word problems. Under separate cover is the Grades 5 to 8 Teacher Resource Package that includes Activity Sheets, eight Achievement Tests, and a Performance Test on all eight topics.
